Virgin Mobile, MVNO launch Project in Chile
Virgin Mobile engaged the expand team exclusively to deliver on five roles at prelaunch phase. These assignments were within B2C Marketing, Brand and Product / Pricing functions. The hires were critical to the launch and subsequent success of Virgin Mobile’s consumer brand launch in Chile.

Virgin Mobile needed a recruitment partner who could truly understand the Virgin values and be able to identify key behaviours and values in prospective candidates. Virgin Mobile needed a partner who could understand the unique challenges of launching a new MVNO in a new country and the people qualities required to deliver success at a crucial stage of early growth. expand already had an insight of the Virgin Group brand and cultural values, through work with Virgin Media in the UK and in particular extensive experience of delivering into marketing, brand, and product marketing functions within B2C mobile MNO / MVNO environments. Candidates needed to be fluent in English, well-educated and with a progressive track record of success demonstrated within major consumer brands.
expand employed a range of candidate attraction methods. Using our existing LATAM contacts to network and gain referrals. Further candidates came from targeted headhunting from a list of retail and MNO brands within Chile and the wider LATAM region. Using structured competency and values based interviews and assessments that were conducted via Skype final shortlists were secured.
expand’s team successfully delivered four key hires. These appointments were made within aggressive time scales ( 6 weeks) 18 months on, all four employees placed by expand are continuing to make a real impact and the MVNO is ahead of expectation in terms of subscriber numbers.
