Brief on position to be filled
Tata engaged expand at the beginning of 2016, on a major project to pipeline talent for their global Media & Entertainment Sales (MES) business unit. This strategy was conceived to allow the MES team to plan their hiring throughout the year, by gaining a detailed understanding of the talent that exists in the market across multiple geographies and functions.
Strategy for attracting suitable candidates
Utilising our project-based search product Commit, expand proposed to deliver a proactive research and headhunting campaign that would map both competitor and complementary technology organisations to identify the best talent within defined timescales, focusing on minority and female candidates.
Operating confidentially, expand would work to initiate relationships with identified individuals, building a pipeline of suitable talent that could be brought into the process when appropriate. Focusing on creating interest from passive candidates, the research would support Tata Communications in making strategic high-quality hires that met their diversity targets.
Firstly, a list of target companies was compiled and agreed with the client. This involved thorough research into agreed companies operating in relevant sectors. Within these target organisations, potential individuals were identified and preliminary research was conducted to verify their backgrounds. A research report outlining identified individuals was compiled and reviewed with the client at a monthly review meeting.
Because of this research-based approach, expand could provide Tata Communications with carefully qualified candidate profiles from a diverse range of companies. These candidates were rare in their skillset, yet in high demand so this strategy allowed Tata Communications to identify key target individuals and attract them accordingly. This, in turn, meant that the hiring process could run seamlessly as potential candidates had already been approached and qualified, and began the process with a good understanding of Tata Communications’ product set, market position, and future aspirations.
