The role as Senior Waveguide Optics R&D Engineer is to design dielectric waveguide planar lightwave circuits (PLC) based on high index contrast waveguide components (polarization independent waveguides, spot-size converter, AWG based Mux and Demux, 1xN, 2XN splitters, mode-converter, power-tap, passive/active hydrids) for optical communication.

Additional tasks to perform simulation tool using Eigenmode Expansion Method (FIMMWAVE/FIMMPROP), Beam Propagation Method (Optiwave), and CrossLight; and device layout GDSII generation and optimization, as well as analysing dielectric waveguide material characterization and device performance to meet design and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of dielectric waveguide planar lightwave circuits (PLC) based on high index contrast waveguide components (polarization independent waveguides, spot-size converter, AWG based Mux and Demux, 1xN, 2XN splitters, mode-converter, power-tap, passive/active hydrids) for optical communication.
  • Perform simulation tool using Eigenmode Expansion Method (FIMMWAVE/FIMMPROP), Beam Propagation Method (Optiwave), and CrossLight; and device layout GDSII generation and optimization.
  • Analysis of dielectric waveguide material characterization and device performance to meet design and manufacturing requirements. Manage and work with test lab team members on development and improvement of precise material characterization and optical device test techniques.
