As a not-for-profit organisation, LINX focus on investing their service and membership fees into strengthening the companies network services. This ensures that their infrastructure is as up to date as possible and that they remain at the forefront of the IXP industry. By doing so, LINX can confidently provide their members with improved network performance, low latency, greater resilience and more control.
Expand was invited to support LINX in the external search for a Chief Technology Officer in 2011 and again in 2014. Having successfully made the appointment on both occasions, expand has enjoyed a relationship that has offered external recruitment, internal assessments, talent profiling and internal benchmarking at Executive Director level.
2019 saw the LINX board have a requirement to appoint an independent Chair to lead the Board of six elected non-executives and four Executive Directors. Following a competitive bid process, expand was awarded the mandate to identify an external Chairperson.
In the spirit of transparency, expand worked with the marketing team at LINX to produce a high profile advertising campaign to encourage members to propose candidates suitable for the post of Chairperson. In parallel expand identified a long list of 75 industry professionals from our network, who offered prior or current experience as Non-Executive Directors and Chair within the internet community.
We were asked to ensure gender diversity in the shortlist and 13 suitable female candidates were invited to join the process.
Following long list review – five candidates were invited to meet the selection committee for formal interview. Having identified three preferred individuals these exceptional candidates completed assessments that offered the selection committee further insights. The successful candidate brings both significant industry and independent Chair experience and is delighted to be appointed.
